We have been doing Greekfest in one form or another since the 1970’s. Originally conceived as the Delta Pi Canoe trip, it’s been configured and reconfigured a bunch of times over the years to reach it’s present orientation.

History

In the early years, we would do quite a bit of paddling as it was a fraternity river trip affectionately called “the Canoe Trip” (see photo). As time went on, and more and more people complained about the amount of paddling, we included less and less paddling, until paddling became an option all together. Turns out, most people wanted a lot less “canoe” in their canoe trip. In the later versions of the Delta Pi Canoe trip, less brothers were showing up, and some were suggesting it was because it was a “brother event”. The suggestion was made to open it up to women…and from there…we opened it up all greeks and sororities.
